April, peggy, myself, Julie, Emma and Dan attended the Stratford Festival. We stayed at a great Air B&B known as The Loft. It was a nice 3 Bedroom place above Soup Surreal. SS was a soup restaurant that was hardly open.
On Tuesday we went to La Cage aux Folles at the Avon Theater. It was spectacular visually, and well acted.
On Wednesday we went to Toronto the visit Casa Loma. The building has been used a several movies, and had some very cheesy tributes to those movies. The building takes on the persona on a English castle. It was way to crowded to enjoy. Traffic was gridlocked in Toronto, and it took us a couple hours just to get out of the city.
Thursday We attended the matinee of Romeo & Juliet. I’ve seen several productions of this romantic drama over the years. This one was competent and enjoyable.
riday was the “Big Day”, as we seen a matinee of Twelfth Night, and the evening performance of Something Rotten. Twelfth Night was set in the 1960’s with some of the roles switched to female characters. Malvolio and The Fool were both cast as female and stole the show with their performances.
We all agreed that Something Rotten was the highlight of the trip. Extravagantly staged, visually stunning, and well-acted. It name drops plays from the last 400 years. By the end of the play we were all laughed out. A great way to end the week in Stratford.
